An important part of The EMBO Meeting is career development for young scientists - PhD students and early post-docs - who will soon face the decision whether to pursue a career within or outside of academia.

A whole range of career activities have been organised for this audience - from skill development workshops, informal discussion sessions and mentoring sessions, to a job market where vacant positions are advertised.

Saturday, 4 September, is Career Day - a whole day dedicated to those who wish to develop skills to manage their research projects more efficiently, and to communicate their research successfully, and for those who are thinking about starting a career outside academia. This also includes the Expanding career options lunch which is funded by the Robert Bosch Stiftung. 15 travel grants were available to female participants attending this session thanks to funding received from the Robert Bosch Stiftung.

Monday, 6 September, speakers at The EMBO Meeting are available to discuss different aspects of the academic career - Pursuing an academic career lunch (FULLY BOOKED)

On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, after each of the plenary talks, the speakers are available for questions and exchange over lunch - Meet the Speaker lunch

Each day throughout the whole meeting, the EMBO Career Development Desk and Job Market provide consulting and exchange of job offers and job seekers.
